Tochukwu Nwankwo Foundation TNF’s action plan for shaping the future of Anambra youths through sports and education.

Tochukwu Nwankwo Foundation
will provide a platform for underprivileged youths to showcase their talent and provides sports and academic scholarships to the most disciplined, dedicated and devoted students in Nanka, Orumba North local government and eventually across the other local governments in the state. Nanka will be the test pilot project as we strive to spread our tentacles across the state and eventually Nigeria. The truth of the matter is that not every footballer will make it big in football, so Tochukwu Nwankwo Foundation will strive to drive this point home to the players and their families and help them understand the importance of education as a veritable back-up plan assuming their football dream fails.

Undeniably, sports alongside education constitute an integral part of youth development and underline paradigm for social and economic growth of the country. Tochukwu Nwankwo Foundation also knows the importance of empowering youths through IT, particularly from low-income communities, in sports, helps them to build strong character, impact their ability to survive, be IT Savvy and transcend difficult situations.

Apart from being a meaningful leisure and physical activity, team TNF believes sports also have an educative character which improves the social cohesion of underprivileged youths. It increases their self-awareness and self-esteem.

Through participation in sports, youth in low-income communities have access to consistent support and encouragement which improves their confidence and self-motivation. Sports help them climb the social-economical ladder that brings greater social acceptance and appreciation and offers them a platform to showcase their talent and competence.

It stimulates social interactions and improves social learning processes in society while reducing the involvement and exposure to violence and unethical activities. All this transcend into benefits for the state as a whole.

Tochukwu Nwankwo Foundation team recognizes the importance of health, education and sports in the process of youth development; it has been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child. In Nigeria, opportunities for children to read and play freely are hampered through economic inequalities, political instability that affects long term sustainability development and less importance given to sports as a part of the academic curriculum.

We are pleased to be associated with Self Help Development Facilitators (SEDFA) Nigeria, who gained consultative status with United Nations in 2011 for focusing on human development, skills enhancement, organizational strengthening, retirement planning, as well as good governance transformation and democratic development. The Tochukwu Nwankwo Foundation envisages partnering with SEDFA to focus primarily on the socio-economic, emotional and physical well-being of individuals as well as entrepreneurship skills upgrading and microfinance intermediation through our partners Fortis Micro Finance Bank, a member of the Nigeria stock.

This also represents an extension of our social commitment to bring about positive change in the life of underprivileged sections of the society by carrying out strategic programmes in health, education, sports and entrepreneurial skills development.
